CareLink Community Support Services has a current opening for a Food Services Coordinator at our STAR II location Norristown, PAEmployee benefits for all full time positions (30 hours or more/week) include medical, dental, tuition reimbursement, 403(b), paid time off, and paid holidays. Our rehabilitation services and professional staff provide the supports that people with serious mental illness, physical disabilities and other developmental challenges need to be active, productive members of their communities.

The role of the Food Services Coordinator is to ensure the nutritional and dietary needs of program participants are met. The primary responsibilities of the Food Service Coordinator will include preparing and cooking meals, ensuring compliance with menus, sanitation, and safety regulations; interacting with participants; and facilitating communication. The Food Services Coordinator is also accountable for the day-to-day operations of the kitchen; nutritional menu planning; cooking; establishing cleaning and maintenance schedules; maintaining high sanitation standards; and maintaining accurate inventory of dietary supplies and household equipment.

This position is responsible for supporting community integration. The goal of this position is to promote the pursuit of independence for all individuals participating in service. The essential functions are established based upon the agency mission, values, and goals.

Available Shift:
  • 1st Shift: (40 Hours) Monday through Friday, 8 AM - 4 PM
Salary Range:
  • $15.00/hour
Qualifications:
  • High School diploma or General Equivalency diploma required
  • Food services certification preferred.
  • Culinary degree or equivalent experience preferred.
  • Certification in food service sanitation preferred.
  • Valid state driver's license required and willingness to drive agency vehicle as required.
  • At least 2 years’ experience planning menus and preparing and cooking foods for large groups of 20+ preferred.
  • Prepares and cooks meals that demonstrate the 5 characteristics of food: Taste, Temperature, Aroma, Presentation, and Texture.
  • Skills in facilitating training on dietary and sanitation needs.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of basic math skills when maintaining a budget including cost analysis.
  • Demonstrate interest and aptitude for increasing skill level and acquiring new skills relative to food service.
  • Exhibit the following competencies: dependability, team player, job knowledge, initiative, problem   solving, communication, conflict resolution, leadership, and delegation.
  • Knowledge of proper sanitation and hygiene.
  • Knowledge of proper food portions and weights.
  • Knowledge of nutrition and special diet planning.
  • Ability to organize kitchen and store rooms.
Essential Functions:
  1. Prepare all meals under the direction of the Program Supervisor.
  2. Responsible for providing healthy and unique meals in a family style setting, and providing a high quality vegetarian option at all times.
  3. Plan and write house menus to include alternate menus for special diets and ensure that they are followed.
  4. Post menus and nutritional information on bulletin boards located in the kitchen area, office area and community area in accordance with Community Residential Rehabilitation Services (CRRS) Licensing Codes.
  5. Plan and control special diets.
  6. Estimate food consumption in determining type and quantity of foods to be prepared.
  7. Order all food and house supplies on a weekly basis in a fiscally responsible manner.
  8. Sign for all food deliveries and check order for accuracy.
  9. Ensure that all meals are ready and served on time.
  10. Ensure that all food served is attractive, palatable and nutritious.
  11. Maintain the cleanliness of the kitchen area and delegate different areas of sanitation to residential and housekeeping staff.
  12. Maintain the cleanliness of refrigerators and freezers and ensure that all food is properly covered and stored.
  13. Ensure that all kitchen equipment is in proper working condition and in compliance with Community Residential Rehabilitation Services (CRRS) Licensing Codes.
  14. Transport clients as necessary/appropriate.
Physical Demands:
  1. Lifting is required. Ability to lift at least a minimum of twenty (20) pounds.
