CareLink Community Support Services has current openings for full-time Partial Counselor at our STAR Partial program located in Norristown, PA. This year as we celebrate our 60th Anniversary, CareLink Community Support Services has been dedicated to helping people with disabilities to live in the community with dignity and independence since 1959. Our rehabilitation services and professional staff provide the supports that people with serious mental illness, physical disabilities and other developmental challenges need to be active, productive members of their communities.

The Partial Counselor position is responsible for planning and conducting various therapeutic groups on a daily basis while maintaining an individual caseload. This position is also responsible for incorporating experience, knowledge and expertise into the position in a respectful, professional manner.

Available Shifts:

  • 1st Shift: (40 Hours) Monday through Friday, 8:30 AM - 4:30 PM

Salary Range:

  • $16.00 - $18.00/hour dependent upon education
Qualifications:
  • Minimum of a Bachelors Degree from an accredited institution in a human services field with a minimum of one (1) year experience, that involves direct contact with individual(s) receiving services within a human service field.
  • Knowledge of basic sex offender behavior preferred.
  • Motivation, interest and ability to work empathetically with people who have a mental illness and a history of sexually deviate behavior required.
  • Ability to handle multiple assignments and work independently required.
  • Ability to make sound judgments regarding the health and welfare of persons in service required.
  • Valid driver’s license required.
  • Willingness to drive agency vehicle required.

Essential Functions:

  1. Plan therapeutic counseling groups for individuals with mental illness and sexual behavior problems using empirically validated techniques.
  2. Conduct daily psychoeducational and supportive therapeutic counseling groups.
  3. Respond empathetically and appropriately to persons in treatment.
  4. Provide one-to-one treatment meetings with individuals in service as appropriate.
  5. Demonstrate the ability to set limits in a firm but supportive manner.
  6. Develop positive relationships with program participants.
  7. Consistently demonstrate knowledge of basic principles and methods of rehabilitation and relapse prevention treatment for sexual acting-out.
  8. Demonstrate the ability to use effective therapeutic techniques and strategies with persons in service.
  9. Assume the responsibility for management of a full caseload, which requires documentation, charting, consultation as appropriate and individual status reports.
  10. Complete scheduled treatment plans, progress notes, and other paperwork within required time frames.
  11. Assume a liaison role with other providers, Vocational, Probation, Crisis, etc.
  12. Attend monthly case management meetings as scheduled for assigned caseload.
  13. Attend staff meetings, conferences and staff trainings.
  14. Participate in supervision.
  15. Keep records and charts up to date at all times.
  16. Review emergency procedures with participants on a regular basis and conduct emergency evacuation drills.
  17. Respond appropriately to emergency situations.
  18. Perform job within framework of agency, site and professional standards (CBH, NIAC, MBH and other credentialing entities).
  19. Attend and participate in agency events.
  20. Adhere to agency/site policies and procedures.
  21. Project a positive attitude and image to staff, persons in service, family members and outside contacts.
  22. Use appropriate communication channels.
  23. Participate in achievement of agency objectives, goals and mission.
  24. Display motivation and interest in working creatively with people with mental illness.
  25. Demonstrate the ability to make sound judgements regarding the welfare of participants in service.
  26. Display ability to take direction.
  27. Possess knowledge of basic principles and methods of rehabilitation.
  28. Follow expected dress code.
  29. Adhere to supervisor’s requests.
  30. Cooperate with other staff and exhibit a positive attitude toward position and agency.
  31. Show initiative and demonstrate good judgement.
  32. Work shifts as scheduled by supervisor.
  33. Follow instructions accurately and thoroughly.
  34. Complete assigned tasks within expected time frames.
  35. Work as scheduled to assure coverage.
  36. Perform job in a safe manner.
  37. Report /address safety concerns in a timely manner.
