CareLink Community Support Services has current openings for CNA/Direct Support Professionals and CNA/Residential Counselors at our Star I Program in Norristown, PA.

For over 60 years, CareLink Community Support Services has been dedicated to helping people with disabilities to live in the community with dignity and independence. Our rehabilitation services and professional staff provide the support that people with serious mental illness, physical disabilities and other developmental challenges need to be active, productive members of their communities.

CNA/Direct Support Professional is responsible for promoting recovery, wellness, and self-determination for individuals participating in services by implementing, supporting, and documenting activities that promote recovery. This position is responsible for supporting community integration. goal of this position is to promote the pursuit of independence for all individuals participating in service. The essential functions are established based upon the agency mission, values, and goals.
 

Sign-On Bonuses for CNA/DSP:

  • $600 for full-time positions 40 hours per week ($300 paid after first 3 months & $300 paid after completion of 6 months of employment per policy)

Available Shifts for CNA/Direct Support Professionals:

  • 2nd Shift (40 Hours), Sunday through Thursday, 4 PM - 12 AM

Salary Range:

  • $14.25/hour
Education & Qualifications:
  • Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) license and experience working in the human services field is required.
  • RPRP/CPRP certification is preferred. 
  • Certified Peer Specialist is preferred.
  • Motivation, interest and ability to work empathetically with people with disabilities using methods of recovery principles;
  • Must be able to write and speak English in an understandable manner;
  • Ability to prepare meals, perform general housekeeping and maintenance duties;
  • Valid state driver's license required;
  • Willingness to drive agency vehicle as required;
  • Ability to handle and maintain confidential information.
Essential Functions:
  • Coordinate medical appointments, assist with medications, etc.
  • Participate in the development and implementation of individualized service plans, treatment activities, case conferences, etc.
  • Consistently assess, teach, evaluate, and supervise participant’s skills in the area of daily living, meal planning, housekeeping, vocational, social and recreational needs.
  • Execute professional daily progress notes, log book entries and other related paperwork as required.
  • Assist and supervise participants in the planning, initiation and participation of social and recreational activities.
  • Monitor, assess and report each participant’s need for additional or replacement clothing or personal items as applicable.
  • Monitor kitchen, housekeeping and linen supplies for participant's and keep supervisor informed of needs.
  • Review emergency procedures with consumers on a regular basis.
  • Respond appropriately to emergency situations.
  • Transport clients as necessary/appropriate.
  • Perform job within framework of agency, site and professional standards.
  • Participate in staff meetings and training programs.
  • Participate in supervision on an on-going basis.
  • Attend and participate in agency events.
  • Adhere to agency/site policies and procedures.
  • Project a positive attitude and image to clients, family members and outside contacts.
  • Cooperate with other staff and exhibit positive attitude toward position and agency mission.
  • Use appropriate communication channels.
  • Participate in achievement of agency goals and mission.
  • Display motivation and interest in working creatively with people who have disabilities.
  • Demonstrate the ability to make sound judgments regarding the welfare of consumers.
  • Display ability to take direction.
  • Possess knowledge of basic principles and methods of rehabilitation.
  • Follow expected dress code.
  • Adhere to supervisor's requests.
  • Show initiative and demonstrate good judgment.
  • Follow instructions accurately and thoroughly while completing assigned tasks within expected time frames.
  • Work as scheduled to assure coverage.
  • Provide casework services to aid residents in adjusting to their specific situations.

Physical Demands:
  • Lifting is required. Ability to lift at least a minimum of twenty (20) pounds;
  • Ability to physically assist individuals in personal care;
  • Ability to perform common household cleaning activities that involve: consistent standing, bending, twisting, pushing, pulling, and walking;
  • Ability to drive agency vehicle.
